Course content

The MRes in Spinal Pain is a one-year full-time or two year part time masters course programme that provides students with a research-orientated training in a lively, highly interactive teaching and research environment.

This programme takes students who have a research focus, from a variety of backgrounds at entry and gives them new skills to enable them to move into further research and/or employment in a number of disciplines.

It is offered by the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, in collaboration with the School of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in the University of Birmingham Medical School.

The purpose of the MRes Spinal Pain is to provide a strong foundation for research in spinal pain and rehabilitation.

Course Information

The taught elements of the course will be delivered in the form of one core module and two optional modules in core disciplines within exercise and rehabilitation sciences, allowing students to shape the course to their particular interest.

Extended research experience is offered in the shape of a six-month research project in the students chosen discipline.

IELTS: 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in any band.

Student Finance England's new Postgraduate Loan application service is now open for Masters degrees in the UK. The Postgraduate Loan for Masters study will be:

  • A contribution towards the costs of study, i.e. it will be at your discretion to use the loan towards fees, maintenance costs or other costs;
  • Non-means tested;
  • Paid directly to you into a UK bank account;

Student Finance England have created a range of resources on their YouTube channel to help you understand the Loan.

This programme is also subject to bench fees of between £2,000 to £6,000, depending on modules taken.
