Course content

Designed by experienced educators and researchers, this Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship is an excellent opportunity for those with a passion for education to pursue an exciting career in teaching.

By blending part-time university study with employment-based learning, this programme offers an innovative structure that enables apprentices to develop their professional practice alongside academic study. This apprenticeship enables schools to support their experienced staff or help new recruits take the next big step on their journey to becoming classroom practitioners.
Teacher apprenticeships can be undertaken in a variety of settings including academy trust, maintained and SEND schools across England.
Throughout the programme, teacher apprentices will be supported by expert colleagues and university tutors to develop strong subject knowledge and up-to-date skills for the educational landscape. Forging positive professional relationships and working with parents and guardians in the best interests of their pupils ensures consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct.
From day one, teacher apprentices will use their new and developing knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning in their employing school workplace.
"The apprenticeship scheme will benefit me and the school I work in, as it’s given me the experience of teaching in the classroom and the qualification I need to carry on teaching the subject I love. From my employer’s side, it’s beneficial as, now I’ve trained within the school, I understand all the policies of the school, behaviours and everything that goes along with being a teacher." - Charlotte Gill, teacher, Varndean School
