World-leading research at UCLan
UCLan has been officially recognised as demonstrating elements of world-leading research in all 16 subject areas that were submitted to the latest Research Excellence Framework exercise. Nearly 49% of the research we submitted was assessed as being of world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*) quality. We are proud of cultivating a research environment that delivers demonstrable benefits to industries, organisations and community groups.
Our research staff work with NASA on solar dynamics, the Government on sector-leading stroke research, industry-leaders on cutting-edge digital media projects, and in collaboration with the Football Association, Professional Golfers Association and International Olympic Committee on sport and exercise science research.
We have postgraduate research opportunities across many disciplines, including Master’s by research programmes, PhDs and professional doctorates. As a research student, you will work alongside our professors and research staff, who are often world leaders in their field of expertise.
Preparing and encouraging students to explore opportunities, show initiative and encourage ingenuity is a key component of UCLan’s culture.
