Entry requirements

A 2:2 honours degree in any subject, and be engaged in, or aspire to work in, teaching and learning or public engagement with conservation and/or sustainability. Applicants with other degree classes and significant experience may be considered through interview and if they can demonstrate, on application, their ability to work at Level 7.
Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of proficiency to IELTS 6.5 with no less than 5.5 in each band or equivalent.
Ability to access the internet to study remotely is essential.

The University of Chester’s PGCert in Conservation and Conservation Education, developed in partnership with Chester Zoo, is designed for professionals from diverse sectors and stages of their career. This PGCert equips you with the practical skills and knowledge needed to design, lead, and evaluate conservation and sustainability initiatives that align with global goals. You’ll explore the theory and practice of inclusive, accessible education, free-choice learning, and the use of innovative tools and technologies to inspire behaviour change across varied audiences and sectors.

You’ll share knowledge, gaining insights into some of today’s most pressing environmental challenges, all whilst learning from the leading experts at Chester Zoo and academics at the University of Chester.

This course is designed with busy professionals in mind, offering a flexible structure that fits around your professional and personal commitments. Teaching is delivered through live online sessions across two midweek evening seminars and two full-day Saturdays each term.
