Reputation

Drawing together the major colleges and institutes from across the region, the University of Cumbria was established in 2007, but has a history of teaching and learning that traces its roots right back to 1822. It has a particularly strong pedigree in teacher and healthcare training, and a growing reputation for postgraduate study delivering outstanding prospects for employability.

Locations

The University of Cumbria in the North-West of England sits in one of the most beautiful areas of the United Kingdom. Campuses in Ambleside, Carlisle and Lancaster offer bags of character and history, with loads to do in the towns, cities and famously picturesque countryside nearby. The University also has smaller sites in Barrow, Workington and London.

The North West campuses also benefit from excellent transport links, with direct rail services to major UK cities and Manchester International Airport within easy reach.

Life-changing

Lucy Knowles undertook her PgD Youth and Community Development Work at the University of Cumbria to help her progress as a youth worker with Lancashire County Council. She is now working in New Zealand as a Youth Transition Co-ordinator and Youth Development Project Manager.
