Entry requirements

An undergraduate (honours) degree at 2:2, or above, in a relevant subject.

Applicants with a degree in another discipline, may be considered if the application indicates a substantial interest in the fields of media and creativity. Applicants will need an open mind towards interdisciplinary work and you must be capable of theoretical and methodological rigour.

Applicants without a degree that have five years' relevant professional experience may be considered.

Course content

Our MA Film Production helps you develop your approach to film production workflows and technology whilst focusing on more creative areas such as screenwriting and directing.

This course will help you develop your creative abilities to a high professional standard. We focus on practice-based research and film projects, preparing you for employment in the dynamic world of film production. You'll be taught in new film production facilities, with post-production suites, and learn to use standard digital film industry equipment including RED, Canon C300 and Arri Alexa systems.

The MA route for this course includes courses on the critical and creative aspects of filmmaking, including cinematography, production practice, film research, screenwriting, and directing. An alternative MSc route explores more technical areas filmmaking, including production practice and editing. Optional courses cover topics including editing, emerging practices, and sound design.
