Entry requirements

The programme is designed for graduates from any discipline with a strong interest in the foundations of accounting and finance. However, we do recommend that you have a basic knowledge and understanding of this area of business studies. You will have a 2:2 honours degree or equivalent, one academic reference and a good command of English. For international students, an IELTS score of 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills) or equivalent, such as Pearson PTE, is also required.

Our MSc programme is designed to develop an understanding of accounting and finance in global organisations and to provide you with important training for careers in the accounting and financial sectors.

A distinctive feature of the programme is that it is designed for graduates from any discipline with a strong interest in the foundations of accounting and finance who wish to acquire analytical skills, both numerical and discursive, to pursue a career in the financial sector. You do not need to have studied in this discipline, but we recommend that students have a basic knowledge and understanding of accounting and/or business studies to make the most of this programme.

The programme also caters for those who seek a general career in business or public service but who want to know more about how the accounting and finance sector operates and how it influences stakeholders, including managers, providers of finance and government.

Information for international students

Competence in English language is required, as evidenced by IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each skill) or equivalent, or previous study in English.
