Course content

The MA Immersive Design for Extended Realities program is an innovative and comprehensive postgraduate course that equips students with the skills, knowledge, and creative mindset required to excel in the dynamic field of immersive design.

This program is designed for individuals who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of immersive design and want to shape the future of extended realities (XR).

Through a blend of theoretical exploration, practical application, and hands-on experiences, students will develop a deep understanding of the theoretical foundations, technical aspects, and design principles that underpin XR technologies. They will explore the possibilities of immersive design across a range of platforms, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and other emerging XR technologies. The modules lay the groundwork for students to explore the potential of XR technologies and understand the ethical, social, and cultural implications of their design decisions. This interdisciplinary approach encourages collaboration and enables students to develop a diverse skill set that aligns with their specific career aspirations.

Throughout the program, students will engage in hands-on projects and practical exercises that simulate real-world design challenges. They will have access to state-of-the-art XR equipment, software, and development tools, allowing them to bring their ideas to life and create compelling immersive experiences.

The final project is a significant component of the MA Immersive Design for Extended Realities program, where students have the chance to apply their knowledge and skills to create an innovative and impactful XR experience. Under the guidance of experienced faculty, students will develop a comprehensive project proposal, conduct research, prototype their design, and refine their work based on iterative feedback. This culminating project serves as a showcase of their expertise and prepares them for careers in industries such as entertainment, gaming, education, healthcare, architecture, and more.

Upon successful completion of the MA Immersive Design for Extended Realities program, graduates will possess the skills, critical thinking abilities, and practical experience necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving field of immersive design. They will be equipped to lead the design and development of immersive experiences that captivate audiences, enhance user engagement, and unlock new possibilities in entertainment, education, communication, and other domains.
