Entry requirements
You must have achieved at least 2:2 in your law degree with an overall average of above 57% or above on their classification. Alternatively, you must have achieved at least a 2:2 with an overall average of 57% or above on their classification in any non-law degree and achieved a pass in a Graduate Diploma in Law (or equivalent)
All applicants are considered on an individual basis and additional qualification, professional qualifications and relevant experience may also be taken into account when considering applications

Unlock your legal career and take the next step on your path to becoming a solicitor with our LLM in Solicitors' Practice, meticulously crafted to prepare you for the Solicitors’ Qualifying Examinations (SQE). This course combines hands-on training with real courtroom experience, guiding you through the essentials of Functioning Legal Knowledge, including ethics, to build on the Foundations of Legal Knowledge gained in your undergraduate studies.
Through a balanced approach of lectures, interactive workshops, and independent study, you’ll enhance your problem-solving abilities and engage in reflective discussions to prepare for a career in legal practice. This course requires a Very Good level of English language equivalent to a high B2 on CEFR
Fees and funding
Kent LLM Solicitors’ Practice Scholarship (Canterbury)
For ALL Applicants:
- Have applied for the taught Kent LLM in Solicitors’ Practice at the Canterbury Campus of the University of Kent for entry in September 2026
- Must have achieved a 2:1 or equivalent in your Law Degree at Bachelor's Level.
- Must have undertaken your Law Degree at an institution other than the University of Kent.
- Must provide a short personal statement (500 words) demonstrating what you have done during the course of your law degree to pursue a career as a solicitor.
- Have received an offer of a place on the taught LLM in Solicitors’ Practice by the scholarship application deadline.
- Submit a scholarship application (details below) by the scholarship application deadline (please note that we are unable to consider applicants for the award without an application)
For Overseas Applicants:
- Hold a valid passport demonstrating nationality of a country receiving ODA funding from the OECD. A full list of countries can be found on the OECD website
- Be classified by the University of Kent as an Overseas student for tuition fee purposes
- Be fully self-funded
