Entry requirements
You must hold a UK undergraduate (Bachelor's) degree with at least First-Class or Upper Second-Class honours or an equivalent qualification from a recognised overseas institution. We would also normally expect applicants to hold a Master's degree but this may not always be necessary.

Course content
We offer PhD and MPhil supervision in History of Art and Film in areas compatible with the research interests of our academic staff including:
Art and Architectural History and Theory:
- Italian Art, from the Early Renaissance through to the Baroque
- Art Theory
History of Film, Television and Comics:
- British and American cinema history, from production to reception
- Popular culture, video games, comics and the serial across media
- Contemporary American film and television, the family on-screen, gender, and costume/fashion
- East Asian cinema
