Entry requirements
- Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 8) with at least a second-class honour, grade 2 (2:2) in any discipline.
- The university may shortlist and invite you to an interview.

Course content
The MA in Migration Studies places students at the forefront of one of the most pressing global issues. This one-year, full-time programme offers a unique interdisciplinary approach to understanding migration through perspectives such as literature, media, geography, history, health, music, politics, sociology, law, and psychology.
Students will explore the causes and consequences of migration and its impact on individuals, communities, and societies. The programme combines academic study with practical experience, including the option to complete a migration internship (Migration Praxis). Delivered on campus, it is designed for students from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about migration and social change.
Key objectives of the programme include:
- Gain a deep understanding of different aspects of migration.
- Acquire real-world insight into migration issues through the internship option.
- Explore the causes, effects, and impact of migration on society, culture, and the economy.
- Learn how migration has been studied across multiple academic disciplines.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of migration issues from a chosen academic specialism.
- Benefit from a blend of lectures, workshops, hands-on activities, and guided research.

- Dissertation or Migration Praxis report submitted at the end of the final semester
