Entry requirements
- Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 8) with at least a second-class honour, grade 2 (2:2) in a relevant or appropriate subject.
- You should have at least 2 years of relevant educational experience, particularly in the areas of primary and post-primary education or other educational environments.
- The university may shortlist and invite you to an interview

Course content
Teachers who have worked internationally can gain a professional qualification in leadership with UL’s Master of Education in Educational Leadership (International).
This two year, fully online programme supports you to deepen your understanding of educational leadership and enhance your leadership practice.
It is designed to help you lead with integrity, empathy and purpose in all educational settings.
It provides teachers with the knowledge, skills and competencies to support their career progression towards Assistant Principal, Deputy Principal and Principal posts.
It fosters your ongoing professional growth and personal development as reflective and resilient leaders.
The programme builds on your experience of international educational systems and enhances your professional skills in a supportive learning environment.
During this programme, you will:
- Examine the dynamics of leading learning and teaching by engaging with theories and practices of instructional leadership.
- Build advanced knowledge of educational leadership through study of leadership approaches, case studies, and practical tools for leading change.
- Examine the impact of national and international policy developments on the professional role of the teacher.
- Foster inclusive and supportive leadership and explore strategies that promote equity, well-being, and collaborative and flourishing school cultures.

Visa Information for non-EEA nationals:
Non-EEA nationals who wish to come to study in Ireland for longer than 90 days must be enrolled in a full-time day time course or programme on the Interim List of Eligible Programmes (ILEP)
Courses that are delivered fully online may also be offered to non-EEA nationals, however students should be advised that they will not be eligible to come to Ireland to study the programme and will have to study it from their home country remotely.
