Entry requirements

For MRes courses applicants should hold a 2.1 (or international equivalent) in a relevant subject; for PhD courses applicants should hold a Master's degree in a relevant subject as well as an Honours degree in a relevant disciple at 2.1 (or international equivalent) level or above.

Research is central to all activities in the Business School. A vibrant and collaborative community of over 100 doctoral research students is an integral part of our research culture. Cutting edge research informs the content and design of all our PhD pathways. Students are working with academic leaders in their respective fields of expertise. Our aim is to train the next generation of innovative business scholars

We expect high standards of our doctoral students. Our students include those who have excelled academically and whose natural next step of their journey is a research degree. The Business School offers a stimulating and highly supportive environment for doctoral study, with strong research methods training. As a result, Nottingham PhD students are among the most successful in the country, according to the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

The University of Nottingham is one of only 21 Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) accredited Doctoral Training Centres (DTC). This accreditation allows applicants from the UK and EU to apply for ESRC-DTC studentships.
