Course content
The MA Media and Communications is available as a Master’s (180 credits), Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits) or Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits), designed to develop advanced creative, strategic and analytical skills for careers in the contemporary media landscape.
The programme combines critical understanding of global media industries with hands-on professional practice. You will explore how media operates within social, cultural and economic contexts, examining global trends, audience behaviour and responsible communication. Alongside this, you will develop practical expertise in digital storytelling, strategic communications, audience research and campaign planning.
Teaching integrates theory with applied learning. You will work with industry-standard tools to produce audio-visual content, analyse audience data, and design communication strategies that respond to real briefs and professional expectations. Sustainability, ethics and social impact are embedded throughout the curriculum, ensuring you develop as a socially responsible media practitioner.
The course culminates in a substantial Major Project, where you will apply your knowledge and skills to a professional or research-based portfolio, such as a campaign, multimedia production, policy paper or dissertation.
Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the programme supports professional recognition and prepares you for careers across media, communications, digital marketing and the wider creative industries.
