Course description
Our course is informed by strong industry connections and cutting-edge research. An Industry Advisory Board, including representatives from leading pharmaceutical companies, ensures the course stays globally competitive and aligned with evolving sector needs.
You’ll explore the science and application of pharmaceutical products, oral drug delivery, medicine production and cutting-edge technologies used in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical processes. You’ll gain hands-on experience with high-value formulated products using our industrial-scale continuous powder processing plant (ConsiGm 25) in The Diamond building. This unique pilot plant experience will develop your understanding of different units used in pharmaceutical production.
Teaching is delivered by leading academics and industry experts, with opportunities for networking and visits to major pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and GSK. The skills and experience gained on this course prepare you for a wide range of roles in the pharmaceutical industry, including process engineer, production manager, formulation scientist, quality assurance specialist, and regulatory affairs professional.
Graduates from this MSc are highly sought-after in the global pharmaceutical sector, leaving Sheffield equipped with both advanced technical knowledge and professional skills. The networking opportunities, industrial exposure and practical experience offered by this programme enhance your career prospects and ensure you are ready to stand out in the pharmaceutical industry.
