Course content

Studying our MA History programme will allow you to explore a rich variety of historical subjects and themes, across a range of chronological and geographical contexts.

You will study with leading historians whose research expertise is sought by governments and think tanks around the world, advising on topics including cultural, social, political, and international history.

You’ll have a wide choice of modules and be able to develop your interest in a specific period or theme under the direct supervision from a historian with specialist knowledge of your chosen topic.

Our Digital Humanities facilities will allow you to study and research through cutting edge technology, such as virtual reality, 3D scanners and printers, and a 360 degree fully immersive audiovisual centre.

Information for international students

English language requirements:

  • All applicants must demonstrate they possess at least a minimum standard of English language proficiency. Applicants requiring a visa to study in the UK who do not offer GCSE English language (or GCSE English) at the required level will need to meet the following English language proficiency requirement.
  • Band C IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all components
