Course content

Our MA programme is team-taught with a rich diversity of historical research. Many modules have an interdisciplinary focus, with an appeal to the specialisms of students with a variety of backgrounds in historically-oriented disciplines.
A distinctive feature of the MA is the core module, Public History, exploring how history is communicated to a wider audience. This seeks to enhance employability, especially for those interested in pursuing history-related careers outside academia. You may also choose modules in other Humanities; disciplines likely to improve your skills, especially in foreign languages such as French, German or Latin.

Modules: Historiography; research skills 1 and 2; dissertation; plus 3 optional modules from pathways in: medieval early modern history; modern British/colonial history; modern European history; transatlantic history
