Course content

The flexible, part-time nature of the MEd in Education Studies degree allows you to gain a Master’s level qualification without the need to stop working. It is ideally suited to qualified teachers or those working within the broader education field looking to enhance their professional theory and practice.

This programme allows you to tailor your studies from a range of elective classes and is ideal for those who want a broader range of study.

Your Advisor of Studies will help guide you in your choices. It has a number of pathways, including:

  • Inclusive Education
  • Philosophy with Children (the only course of its kind in the UK)
  • Supporting Teacher Learning
  • Supporting Bi-lingual Learners
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Educational Leadership
  • Early Career Development
  • STEM Education
  • Children's Literacies
  • Diversity and Education
  • Independent Study

By completing this degree you'll gain a critical understanding of education whilst being able to tailor your choice of elective subjects to suit your preferred area of specialism.

This degree is not a teaching qualification, rather, it enables you to develop skills to study at Masters level and develop a sophisticated understanding of the concept of policy relating to education. It will allow you to extend your interest and understanding of learning and engage in a range of other, education-related areas.
