Entry requirements

A Undergraduate Honours Degree (2:2 or above) in dance or a related subject. Applicants will also be required to attend for interview/audition to assess their suitability to study on the course.

Candidates with a significant track record (five years) of professional experience in dance or a relevant field, but without a BA (Hons) degree are also welcomed. Applicants in this category will be required to attend for interview/audition and asked to produce a piece of written work as a means of assessing their suitability.

Course content

The MA Creative Practice and Performance (Dance) will allow you to hone your skills in creativity, contemporary arts practice, and performance. With a specific focus on dance, this pathway will provide you with insight into contemporary debates on dance conventions. This will help develop your sophisticated understanding of trends and developments in performance and dance practices.

The course allows you to work collaboratively in an industry-focused environment, enhancing your practice as a professional arts practitioner. The course includes academic as well as practical study and builds on the expertise of staff in dance practice and performance.

There will be opportunities, where appropriate, for you to network with professionals in the dance industry and to collaborate with postgraduate students across the School of Performing Arts.

Information for international students

The MA Creative Practice and Performance (Dance) will require students to be capable of a high level of communication skills, both oral and written. International students who do not have English as a first language should have achieved an IELTS score of 6.5 or above.
