About UWE Bristol

At UWE Bristol we empower you to make a choice. To choose a university that pushes itself as much as you. To choose a passion that gives you purpose. To choose a community that leads the way, encouraging you to question everything, and to become the best you can be.

UWE Bristol is one of the UK’s larger universities with over 30,000 students studying in Bristol or at our overseas partner universities. As an ambitious, supportive university, we work with our industry partners to identify skills shortages, and develop courses that meet industry needs and provide fantastic career opportunities for our students.

We couldn’t be better placed than in Bristol, a vibrant, friendly and creative hub – and our location adds even more to our appeal. From the creative industries to engineering, high-tech to healthcare, and established national corporations to growing start-ups, it’s a hotbed of opportunity where you can achieve your career goals.

Fantastic facilities

Having invested over £300 million in its facilities over the past five years, the University has many impressive subject-specific facilities designed to help you gain practical experience using industry-standard equipment. These include a skills simulation suite replicating a real-life hospital, a financial trading room, animation studios, a flight simulator, mock courtrooms, a virtual law office, media studios, a crime scene house and a games studio.

There are also plenty of group and individual study spaces around the campuses, plus a 24-hour library on Frenchay Campus. Also, students can explore their musical talents at the Centre for Music, where they can take advantage of rehearsal studios, practice spaces, recording equipment and much more. Plus, sports and fitness fans will be impressed by the Centre for Sport, complete with fitness suites, an astro pitch, a climbing wall and squash courts along with a packed schedule of fitness classes.

Our campuses

We have three campuses each with its own friendly, welcoming community plus excellent facilities including learning zones, libraries and cafes and shops.

Frenchay Campus

Our main campus, just four miles outside the city centre (15 minutes by Metrobus), is home to our world-class Bristol Business School, and recently opened state-of-the-art School of Engineering building.

City Campus

Home to UWE Bristol’s creative and cultural industry courses, City Campus spans the city, incorporating Bower Ashton, Spike Island, plus studio spaces above the Arnolfini and Watershed.

Glenside Campus

Located in the Fishponds area of the city and known as our ‘health campus’, Glenside is home to most of our allied health, nursing and midwifery students.

Bristol – a city with potential

Bristol is a unique city, known for being welcoming, unconventional and bold. Home to free thinkers, creative legends and entrepreneurs. Though it tops the lifestyle polls on a regular basis, Bristol is more than just a great city to live in – it’s a place to achieve your ambitions. So whether you’ve lived in Bristol for years, or you’re new to the city, it will tick a lot of your boxes.

The city is booming in the financial services sector, world-renowned on the creative scene and offers exciting opportunities for budding lawyers due to its commercial law presence in the city. And let’s not forget engineering, which is big business here, with industry icons like Airbus and Rolls-Royce keen to discover new talent ready to join and grow the industry.

And healthcare is key too – Bristol is where tomorrow’s life-saving technology is developed at the Health Tech Hub, as well as home to the Bristol Nightingale Hospital, which offered sanctuary to the city during the pandemic. Last but not least is Bristol’s thriving start-up scene. Whatever your career ambitions are, Bristol is the place to turn your passion into a profession.
