Our campus is located at centre of York, a city steeped in history.

York Minster, the largest gothic cathedral in Northern Europe, has been the centrepiece of York's skyline since 1080. Celebrate your graduation here and be part of its history.

York Minster is the largest gothic cathedral in Northern Europe, it has been the centrepiece of York's skyline since 1080. It's just a stone’s throw away from York St John University and where our students have celebrated their graduation for many years.

The streets in York are lined with a mix of independent shops and cafes, well known highstreet stores and plenty of restaurants. The city also hosts an annual calendar of festivals that showcase local talent and the history of the region. These include the renowned Aesthetica Short Film Festival, the Great Yorkshire Fringe Comedy Festival, York Literature Festival, York Chocolate Festival and the JORVIK Viking Festival.

Fancy a weekend away? York is ideally situated in North Yorkshire, close to national parks, areas of outstanding natural beauty and dramatic coastlines. If you prefer an urban getaway then direct train lines to Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh can get you there.

London calling

Our campus in London means we can offer you even more. Located in Islington, just moments away from the world-famous Barbican Centre and just two stops from Kings Cross station on the London Underground, our second home - The Glasshouse - gives you the chance to get the best of both cities.

You'll have the opportunities to benefit from our link with the capital, including the option of taking part in talks, visits and industry-led skills modules at our London campus. Some of these are course specific and others are available to all students. It's all part of our commitment to helping you take on the big ideas and challenges which influence the 21st century workplace.

A place to call home

We know it's important to love where you live, that's why we help you find the right accommodation for you whilst studying for your postgraduate degree.

The majority of our postgraduate students choose to live in privately rented accommodation whilst they study. We ensure all of our students have access to a high standard of accommodation, and are treated fairly by their landlords, by partaking in YorProperty, the local council's voluntary landlord accreditation scheme.

Our University accommodation includes studio apartments and shared flats or houses. They’re all within one mile of the campus, have WiFi access and 60% are ensuite. Whilst most of our accommodation is rented by Undergraduate students, you can also apply for a place. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee that you would be sharing exclusively with postgraduate students.

How to apply

Apply online. Unlike with undergraduate degrees, we accept applications directly through our own website rather than through a central system. You will find an application link on each of our course pages. Depending on your course you may be invited to interview, or we may make a decision based on your application alone.
