Still recruiting throughout COVID‑19
At Tesco, we welcome individuality and uniqueness. We always want our colleagues to feel they can be themselves at work and we’re committed to helping them be at their best. We’re building an inclusive workplace, a place to actively celebrate the cultures, personalities and preferences of our colleagues who share the same purpose, to serve our customers a little better every day, and you’ll have a vital part to play.
You’ll be given responsibility from day one, so you can gain a deep knowledge of your role through hands-on experience. You’ll have access to a wide variety of workshops and resources, online or at our on-site training academy, to help you develop skills like building your network, developing your authentic brand and leading change, as well as looking after your wellbeing. And don’t worry, you’ll be supported throughout your graduate programme by your manager and your buddy – they were in your shoes not so long ago.
You'll gain a breadth of experience that will help you think about your future at Tesco, beyond your programme, as there is a wide variety of job opportunities. As you finish your programme, you should be well-equipped to excel in a role that plays to your unique strengths and interests.
What you need to know
Salary - we offer graduates a competitive salary of £28,000 - £32,000, depending on the programme. You’ll also be eligible for a bonus payment, depending on your own performance and how the business performs.
Benefits – graduates get 20 days holiday pro rata, plus a personal day. You’ll also receive exclusive benefits including discounted cinema tickets and half price entrance to theme parks, not to mention 10% off at Tesco once you’ve been here for three months.
Pension - even though retirement may be many years away, you’ll be offered the Tesco Retirement Savings Plan when you join. You can choose to save from 4% and we’ll match how much you pay, up to 7.5%.
What it’s like working here – the office is a relaxed and friendly environment, with a casual dress code. We have flexible work spaces and places to enjoy down-time with colleagues, like sports pitches and cafes. You’ll get a laptop, so you can work anywhere on campus and sometimes from home.
For Store graduates it’s all about face-to-face interactions with our customers and leading a team. Serving millions of shoppers a week in our stores, it’s fast-paced with no two days being the same.
Learning path – you’ll build your skills for the future with real-life experience, workshops and resources, as well as support and mentoring from your colleagues. Our on-site training academy makes it easy to take advantage of learning sessions – from quick Lunch and Learns to more in-depth courses. Store graduates will also have access to training, delivered by a local Learning Partner.
Health and wellbeing – we want to inspire and help colleagues to look after their mental and physical wellbeing, so they can feel great at work and at home. You’ll have access to resources developed in partnership with experts such as Mind, The Sleep School, Nuffield Health and the British Nutrition Foundation.
We have a wide range of graduate opportunities, including our new Business programme where you will gain a breadth of valuable experience early in your career, with the opportunity to work in different parts of the business. You might prefer to specialise in a particular area and join one of our graduate programmes in finance or technology, including roles across software engineering, cyber security, programme and product. Opportunities are also available for you to join our store teams, giving you management experience in large and small format stores, as well as experience in distribution.
Applications for our 2021 programmes are now open. Find out more and apply on our website.
