Course content
Birmingham City University’s International Summer School offers you the perfect opportunity to spend three weeks sampling UK university life, as well as giving you the chance to enhance your academic skills and visit some of the UK’s historic towns and cities.
The International Business course is designed to help you develop understandings and insights in business activities on a global scale. It provides the perspectives to examine business organisations within the international economic, governmental, and social context. There are also introductions of contemporary theories in international business, dynamic approaches in international strategic management as well as entrepreneurial analysis in a post-COVID 19 era with deepening globalisation.
What will you study?
Birmingham is the birthplace of Industry Revolution. From the perspectives of economics and management studies, Birmingham stands for its rich heritage as well as the global challenges. The international business programme is designed for students to develop their understandings in theoretical frameworks commonly adopted in examination of international business issues.
Week 1
- You will be introduced to the various concepts and principles such as PESTEL and SWOT, and how they are applied to international businesses. You will also be introduced to the project and assigned to your group. As your project is about Birmingham, there is a possibility that you will visit Jaguar Land Rover Castle Bromwich plant or Cadbury World – leading international businesses based in Birmingham during that week.
Week 2
- Under the guidance and supervision of your tutors, you will start to do some research on your project in your assigned groups and apply the principles and concepts you will have learned in building up the project.
Week 3
- You will finalise your project and prepare to present it before a panel of judges made up of tutors and other university staff.
