Course content

The new MSc International Business prepares you for a successful career in the new international business arena by addressing issues of culture, politics, and economics, as well as equipping you with the personal attributes and analytical skills required for careers in the international business world.

As we enter a period of dramatic economic and political change, there has never been a more exciting time to study international business.

Today’s businesses operate in a dynamic global business environment in which managers have to deal with rapidly changing markets and a climate of tremendous uncertainty. These challenges call for new skills and new thinking as businesses strive to reinvent and innovate.

The MSc International Business has been carefully crafted to reflect the complex, dynamic and multifaceted character of this contemporary subject area.

The focus is very much on developing you as you acquire the skills and attributes necessary for the leaders, entrepreneurs and policymakers of tomorrow in management, strategy and decision making and communication. You'll also develop a clear understanding of the environment in which international businesses operate in terms of economics, finance and governance, as well as politics and culture.

Research methods run through the whole course, preparing you for the dissertation in Term 3. The dissertation provides an opportunity for you to set yourself apart and demonstrate to potential employers a high level of thinking in a specialist area. This work is supported and supervised by experienced, research active members of staff, and may lead to publication.

If you choose to specialise in either marketing or finance through electives and a dissertation in these areas, you may be awarded the MSc International Business with Marketing or and MSc International Business with Finance.
