Entry requirements

The course is suitable for healthcare professionals, in particular allied health professionals (including radiographers and extended scope physiotherapists) and nursing personnel (specifically nurse practitioners in Accident and Emergency). Students admitted to the course should be in possession of either a first degree or a diploma in the relevant field. At least two years of clinical/fieldwork education is required. Applicants must have written support from their clinical manager, and from a consultant radiologist who is prepared to act as a mentor and provide reporting and tutorial sessions. Applicants must also be eligible for professional registration with the Health Professions Council in the UK or the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Non-native speakers of the English language must satisfy the Minimum University requirements (e.g. 6.5 IELTS).

Course Aims

The course offers knowledge and expertise to enable qualified healthcare professionals to carry out clinical image reporting tasks in their workplace, acting as autonomous professionals.

Course Description

The number of healthcare professions using images in their work has increased over recent years and there are many groups who would like the ability to interpret films. This course, open to a wide range of healthcare professionals, will provide students with the chance to foster greater inter-professional links. Those healthcare professionals completing the course will have the opportunity to increase their evaluative and problem solving skills within the specialised area of clinical reporting.

A radiological mentor is required in order to satisfy the requirements of the modules.

Information for international students

International students pursuing part-time programmes of study are not eligible for Tier 4 visas and must have alternative leave to remain in the UK if they intend to study at the University in person.
