Course content
Become a marketing communications and PR professional for the fashion industry through a hands-on programme that develops your creative skills and teaches you how to navigate the business. You will create compelling communication strategies, brand storytelling, reputation management and digital content that is sensitive to consumer insights and fashion brand values.
Who is this course for?
This innovative course, working to be the first double-accredited (CIM – Chartered Institute of Marketing - and CIPR – Chartered Institute of Public Relations) programme of its kind in the United Kingdom, provides you with the contextual knowledge and practical skills you need to be a critical practitioner of digital marketing communications and public relations for the fashion industry.
Essential to your learning will be our unique location: our Clerkenwell campus offers close proximity to London’s world-leading hub of fashion and communication industries. Whether you are eager to explore the capital’s luxury retail or vintage precincts, immerse yourself in fashion culture at one of London’s many museums, or access the industry at London Fashion Week, City St George’s offers a prime launchpad for your intellectual and creative explorations in this global fashion city. We are steps away from cutting-edge Shoreditch fashion as well as the Old Street hub of marketing and strategic communication agencies. This helps us provide you with regular industry guest speakers, collaborations and site visits to key fashion communications practitioners and agencies in London.
Your course will be located in London’s most dynamic media and communications department, the Department of Media, Culture and Creative Industries. You will complete an Independent Project under the supervision of a member of staff, in which you will execute either (1) a substantial project of research and analysis of an issue or debate related to fashion marketing and strategic communication or (2) a substantial project related to current professional practice in your field plus a reflective and analytical commentary that justifies the form and decisions taken in that project.
In addition, all students have the opportunity to undertake a Professional Placement in the industry or select from a range of optional modules such as Lifestyle (i.e. fashion journalism) or Entrepreneurship in the Media and Creative Industries.
