Entry requirements
We welcome applications from talented individuals of all backgrounds and each application is considered on its individual merit. Usually applicants must hold:
A UK lower second class undergraduate degree with honours, as a minimum, or equivalent international qualification.

If you do not meet the above entry requirements but still feel you can demonstrate the ability to complete the course successfully, you may still be accepted onto a course and we encourage you to make an application.
UK military applicants
In order to make an academic application for the course you must first be preselected.
The preselection process is met via a Selection Board that comprises RAF (Air and Space Warfare Centre, Defence Academy), Royal Navy and Cranfield University personnel (Course Director), reviewing a comprehensive application form that contains academic and work experience, relevant interests and courses, a personal narrative and a 1st and 2nd Reporting Officer recommendations.
Following successfully satisfying preselection, candidates are encouraged to formally apply for the course.
ATAS clearance
This course requires Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) clearance.
ATAS is run by the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and applies to international students, except exempt nationalities, who need a visa to study in the UK. Further information can be found in our Application guide.
Security clearance for Shrivenham
Some Cranfield University courses are delivered at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Shrivenham which is a Ministry of Defence (MoD) site.
All applicants to courses that are wholly or partially delivered at Shrivenham must hold suitable clearance. For further information please refer to the Security clearance for Shrivenham section of our Application guide.

Designed specifically for those in MOD roles that are looking to enhance their knowledge and expertise in the realm of electronic warfare, aero-engineering and role specific themes.
The Aerosystems course is multidisciplinary, covering the areas of uninhabited aircraft systems, guided weapons, electro-optics, communications, radar, electronic warfare and information networks. The course covers the key concepts, fundamental principles, and considerations of design and critical thinking associated with the above mentioned areas.
