Course content

Project management has traditionally been a vital part of contracting industries such as engineering and construction. Organisations are increasingly relying on project management as a way of carrying out important work, to improve processes and help them implement change. Project managers are now engaged in a range of organisations and sectors, including manufacturing, the public sector, charities, asset management and utilities companies, finance and health management.

Designed both for those who would like to enter this challenging, varied and exciting area, and people who are already involved in project work and would like to take a leading role, this course will give you the necessary skills, insight and practice to become a professional project manager.

You will develop an insight into the potential for better management of projects by studying the challenges that face project managers today. You will also enhance the critical management skills important to working on projects including negotiation, innovation, decision making, motivation, team management, contracts and procurement.

This course is accredited by the Association for Project Management (APM), and our close links with the APM and many other organisations engaged in projects and project management will ensure you are kept up to date with the very latest professional developments.

Research Excellence Framework 2014 - our University's results for the Architecture, Built Environment and Planning unit, which it entered for the first time, were impressive with 37% of its research being rated world leading or internationally excellent.
