Course content

Become a highly sought-after graduate in the growing discipline of Biomedical Informatics.

Overview

Awareness of informatics as a discipline, and the transferrable nature of informatics skills is growing, and graduates with informatics skills are highly sought after. Our MRes in Biomedical Informatics caters to this need. You will take the compulsory ‘Bioinformatics for Biomedical Scientists’ and ‘Research Skills’ modules and your choice of additional modules from a broad range of options available to students across our MRes programmes. This taught component of the course is then followed by a 24 week research project in Biomedical Informatics.

It is available to graduates with a BSc in life sciences or related disciplines, as well as intercalating and qualified MBBS and BDS students.

The course will enable you to gain an advanced knowledge and understanding of informatics and develop a range of subject specific and generic skills which will enable you to engage in teaching and/or research at an advanced level in higher education or in a senior professional capacity in other fields of employment.

What you'll learn

You'll study subject-specific content in biomedical informatics research. There will also be a broad range of complementary options to add to these.

Your 24-week research project comprises the major element of the course. You'll work under the supervision of an expert academic researcher in the field.
