Course content

Sport industry expansion necessitates professionalism and the need for on-going career development. The International Sport Management programme integrates underpinning knowledge and industry practice, and engages with sport organisations that have global connections. This unique opportunity to collaborate with our sport partners will help you to develop your ability to think strategically, apply the principles of sport management in an international context and construct solutions to international sport management issues. The programme culminates in a residential visit to an international sport event organisation which provides operational insight, application and reflection of issues facing the international sport industry.

The student mix of returning students and sport practitioners from, literally, all corners of the world creates a stimulating environment for study. An interactive learning atmosphere incorporates the experiences of all in a friendly and supportive manner. The reputation for a high quality student educational experience held by the Department of Sport Development, Management and Coaching has helped graduates to pursue careers in sport organisations such as BOCOG, FIFA, the RFU and Adidas. The International Sport Management programme will help to showcase your abilities making you more attractive to employers for senior positions in the sport sector.

All assessments are applied to the practice of international sport management and examples of these include case studies, real life projects, plans, reports and presentations.

Recent graduates work, quite literally, around the world in various sport management positions across the commercial, public and voluntary sectors.
