Master´s Programme in Physics, specialisation Atomic-, Molecular Physics and Optics
Entry requirements
Specific entry requirements: To be admitted to the programme, knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor of Science degree is required, including at least 90 higher education credits in physics.
Months of entry
August, September
Course content
The Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (AMO) study path of the Master programme concentrates on the study of the interaction between light and matter on various scales, from atomic to molecular level, how to understand and manipulate atoms, molecules, and light in new ways, that were not possible just a few years ago.
The programme starts with foundations in relevant experimental and data analytical tools (detectors, programming for physicists, statistical methods, ...), and a deepening of selected theoretical concepts. It then offers the students the possibility to dive into the concepts and methods in atomic physics, molecular physics, laser physics and modern X-ray science as well as neighboring relevant areas and technologies such as accelerator physics and quantum chemistry.
