Entry requirements

A 2.2 honours degree (or equivalent) will be required to be accepted onto this programme.

The programme is open to individuals with a degree in any relevant discipline; therefore, a Law degree is not a requirement for the LLM, and a Finance degree is not a requirement for the MSc.

For the MSc, a minimum of 2 years work experience and a professional or academic background in Accounting, Management, Maths, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Banking or similar would be advantageous.

Course content

This programme is delivered jointly by the University of Aberdeen's School of Law and Business School and provides students with a truly interdisciplinary learning experience, with the choice of an LLM or MSc exit qualification.

With a practical and commercial focus, our Corporate Finance and Law programme will appeal to those employed in or with an interest in commercial and professional services within the legal and financial services communities.

You can choose the most suitable route to follow depending on your own individual career aspirations. You will learn about key issues in Corporate Finance and Law, providing them with the skills and expertise they require in this fascinating, important, and remunerative area.

This programme offers particular benefits to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by developing skills and knowledge of both the legal and financial markets. Students will gain an insight into finance for SMEs, including raising finance from the stock market.

This degree is open to people from any discipline and will provide students with an interdisciplinary learning experience in Corporate Finance and Law. With full- or part-time study options available, and start dates in September or January, you can tailor your studies to fit your lifestyle.

Graduates of this programme typically progress into positions in the global corporate and financial sector and work for key financial institutions. Some graduates pursue a research career path, and continue onto PhD studies.

To study for a Postgraduate Taught degree at the University of Aberdeen it is essential that you can speak, understand, read, and write English fluently. The minimum requirements for this degree are as follows:

IELTS Academic:

OVERALL - 6.5 with: Listening - 5.5; Reading - 6.0; Speaking - 5.5; Writing - 6.0

TOEFL iBT:

OVERALL - 90 with: Listening - 17; Reading - 21; Speaking - 20; Writing - 21

PTE Academic:

Cambridge English B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency:
