Entry requirements

To gain entry to the Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) you require:

- a full masters qualification in a relevant field, or appropriate research experience. An application made by someone with research experience, but with no masters qualification will be considered on its merits and normally require independent academic references

- at least four years of appropriate professional experience.

English language requirements

- Minimum IELTS score of 7.5 or equivalent. English language competence will be tested through the application form and interview.

The University of Brighton Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) is a part-time course that offers experienced educational professionals the opportunity to create new theoretical and professional knowledge through designing and leading research in their field of practice.
This is a supportive and stimulating course that offers a taught cohort experience prior to the individual research and thesis stage. With the support of experienced and expert tutors and supervisors, you'll build expertise, momentum and confidence throughout the course.
Students on the programme represent a range of educational settings and contexts including schools and higher education and a broad range of subject disciplines, such as nursing, health, early years, teacher education and STEM.
Successful graduates of the programme will contribute to the advancement of knowledge in professional practice within their field of educational responsibility.
