Months of entry
This flexible course will suit individuals working or wishing to work in a variety of settings within the sector, including education, the community and the workplace. You will explore the theories, policies and practices of career education, guidance and coaching, and the framework for professional practice. There is an emphasis on technology and the use of technology to support the delivery of career development interventions.
You will have the opportunity to explore practice in a range of career development contexts including:
- the development of working relationships with clients
- partnership working
- the development and provision of career, labour market information, technology and social media to support career development
You will also have the chance to develop the necessary research skills to operate within a research context, before undertaking a work-based research project.
You will be taught by members of iCeGS, who are experts in the area of career guidance. You will also have access to the iCeGS library and archive of career literature and research, as well as extra-curricular activities such as the iCeGS annual lecture, research seminars and workshops.
Throughout the course you will gather the necessary evidence for your QCD portfolio with support from our teaching team.
To gain your QCD, you are required to undertake 20 days of work-based placements. You may already be based in a suitable workplace, but if you wish to explore a different setting or don’t currently have access to one, we will support you to find a suitable work placement. Our teaching team have extensive networks of career development providers, so you may have access to placements in settings such as schools, colleges, universities, research centres, and large organisations who employ career development practitioners in a range of roles, including human resources and talent management.
You will also be required to undertake an additional 10 days of related work-based learning, which includes activities such as careers fairs and visits to employers.
