Course content

Our MSc Marketing and Brand Management is designed for those seeking to deepen their understanding of marketing, brand management and communications. It would suit students with a first degree in management, business, marketing, branding, communications or a related social science, who want to pursue a research driven programme of study in this specialist area.

You will study a range of marketing, brand management and communication modules, as well as studying relevant research methods. Our spring term allows for choice of an optional module and, in the summer, you continue work on and conduct independent research for your dissertation. Our course also includes a compulsory management element, to enable you to understand the organisational framework within which the marketing function is situated.

Our MSc Marketing and Brand Management is particularly suited to those with an interest in pursuing further academic research, or working in an area of marketing, branding or consultancy, where research skills and cutting-edge knowledge is at a premium.

Our Essex Business School has an international reputation for cutting-edge research in accounting, finance, management and entrepreneurship. This was confirmed when we were ranked second in the UK for accounting and finance research, with 95 percent of our research graded as of international quality. Our work is informed by a broad range of social science theories and concepts, much of it addressing the important issues currently being faced by commercial businesses, public sector bodies and not-for-profit organisations.

We are recognised for being at the forefront of research in: business ethics and corporate social responsibility; organisation studies; leadership and strategy; finance and banking; risk management; and international management. Many of our academic staff have world class research reputations and have written about, or worked, in, a wide range of organisations and this experience is incorporated into your learning experience within our School.
