Entry requirements
To be eligible to apply to the international master's programmes at the University of Helsinki, you must meet the following criteria:
- General eligibility: You have a first-cycle (bachelor’s) degree from a higher education institution in Finland, or an equivalent degree abroad that gives you eligibility to apply to master's level programmes in the awarding country
- Applicable studies: You have completed a sufficient amount of studies applicable or relevant to the master’s programme.
- Language skills: You demonstrate sufficient skills in the language (English, Finnish or Swedish) that you choose as the language of the degree on the application form.

Course content
The two-year Master’s Programme in Changing Education offers a comprehensive understanding of education as a dynamic and evolving system, spanning from individual neural processes to global policy frameworks. Throughout the programme, you will develop the knowledge and skills needed to critically analyse, design, and influence educational practices, institutional structures, and pedagogical approaches.
You will engage in a distinctive, research-based curriculum that integrates multiple perspectives on diversity and equality in education, teaching, and learning. The programme is structured around three key areas:
- Education, society, and culture
- Educational psychology and neuroscience
- Pedagogy, educational institutions, and research-based teacher education
