Entry requirements
An honours degree (at least 2:2 or equivalent) in education, social sciences, psychology, or related disciple. Applicants with professional experience in education, training, or related sectors who do not hold traditional academic qualifications may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency. The following qualifications and grades will be considered:
- Grade 4/C in English Language and Mathematics
- IELTS 7.0 (with no less than 6.5 in any band)
Other English language tests are accepted by the University.

Course content
The Master of Research in Education Institutional Development is a research-led postgraduate degree in education with taught elements, uniquely designed to equip you with the expertise to investigate, analyse, and address the challenges facing educational institutions in a real-world context. It’s grounded in research methodology, with particular emphasis on governance, leadership, organisational learning, and the processes that drive strategic development in schools, colleges, and universities.
You will explore how educational policy, institutional culture, and systemic changes shape learning environments and leadership practices across diverse contexts. This pathway enables you to develop advanced research skills alongside transferable abilities that are highly valued by employers; such as critical analysis, data interpretation, reflective learning, ethical decision making, and the capacity to communicate complex ideas effectively to a range of audiences. You will deepen your understanding of educational theory and practice in order to contribute evidence-based improvements to teaching, learning, and policy.
