Entry requirements
- Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 8) with at least a second-class honour, grade 2 (2:2) in a a relevant branch of science or engineering (e.g., Bioscience, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Biotechnology, Bioengineering).
Other Entry Considerations:
We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet the standard entry requirements, as long as you can show that you have the knowledge, skills, and experience needed for the programme.

Course content
UL’s online Master of Science in Biomolecular Science prepares students for a wide range of career options in the Life Sciences, medical/healthcare sciences and Biotechnology sectors, with advanced knowledge in molecular and cell biology.
The programme’s core modules cover areas such as advanced cell and molecular biology, biopharmaceuticals, cancer mechanisms and precision medicine, neurological and inflammatory diseases and predictive biomolecular modelling tools.
The programme also enables students to develop skills in data analytics, regulatory affairs and biophysics.
Suitable for those who are perusing careers in areas such as cell biology, microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, diagnostics, basic research, BioPharma, regulatory affairs, quality assurance and control, scientific editing and writing, lab technician, and more.

During this programme, you will:
- Develop a fundamental knowledge of molecular and cell biology and examine the impact of cellular dysfunctions in disease.
- Examine the pathway taken from the identification of a drug target to a potential new therapy.
- Understand the computational physics, chemistry and biology underpinning the latest breakthroughs in disease treatment and regenerative medicine.
- Improve your knowledge of regulatory affairs and safety in bio-industry, and immerse them into new research methodologies, report writing techniques and their application to discipline and industry focused projects

Visa Information for non-EEA nationals:
Non-EEA nationals who wish to come to study in Ireland for longer than 90 days must be enrolled in a full-time day time course or programme on the Interim List of Eligible Programmes (ILEP)
Courses that are delivered fully online may also be offered to non-EEA nationals, however students should be advised that they will not be eligible to come to Ireland to study the programme and will have to study it from their home country remotely.
