Course Description:
Practising and Promoting Public Health in a Global Context is an online standalone module that explores the history of public health and the role of a public health practitioner working in a global context.
You will explore a range of topics, including history, politics, disease burdens, social determinants of health, and health inequalities. You will also learn to critically appraise public health theories and practices in relation to health, disease, and social inequities relevant to practice at a local, regional, national, and global level.
Throughout the module, critical thinking and group assessment methods are used to reflect real-world public health issues. By the end, you will have developed a critical awareness and understanding of the knowledge, application, and practice of public health in a global context.
The module is a great way to boost your knowledge for CPD or personal interest—and it can also be your gateway to a full master’s degree, with successful completion making you eligible to progress to one of our Public Health programmes.
