Course content

The Web Development programme is available as a Master’s (180 credits), with exit awards of Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits) and Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits).

This conversion course is designed for graduates from non-computing backgrounds who want to build the technical expertise and professional skills required for a career in web and digital development.

You will develop a strong foundation in core computing principles alongside practical training in front-end and back-end development, databases, web frameworks and modern development tools. No prior programming experience is required. Throughout the programme, you will progressively build the ability to design, develop and deploy interactive, scalable and user-focused web applications.

Teaching combines theoretical understanding with hands-on, project-based learning through guided labs, workshops and collaborative development tasks. Core themes include software development, data management and ethics, applied AI and cybersecurity, and professional web design practice. The MSc culminates in a substantial independent project, enabling you to design and implement a complete web application that demonstrates technical, ethical and security awareness.

Graduates are prepared for roles across web development, software development, UX/UI design, digital product development and related areas within the digital and technology sector.
