Course content

The Education programme provides a broad and flexible opportunity to explore education as both an academic discipline and a professional practice. The course examines how education operates within diverse social, cultural and professional contexts and how factors such as policy, culture, inequality and global change influence learning and teaching.

Students engage with contemporary educational research and explore key themes including social justice, equity and inclusion in education. The programme considers how educational systems respond to social inequality and how education can contribute to social mobility and wider societal change.

The programme supports students from a range of professional and educational backgrounds, including those working in educational settings and those interested in education policy, research or related fields. Through collaborative learning and engagement with different perspectives, students broaden their understanding of education in different contexts.

Research and reflective practice are central to the programme. Students develop knowledge of educational research methods and complete an independent research project that investigates an area of education linked to their interests or professional context.
