Psychological Practitioner in Homelessness
Entry requirements
You’ll need a first or second-class degree, or equivalent, in any subject from an approved university or institution of higher education.
We have designed this course to suit staff working in the homelessness sector who have direct experience of working with individuals experiencing homelessness. You'll be expected to use the knowledge and skills you learn in the course in your working role.

About this course
Make a real difference in the lives of those facing homelessness, on this fully online Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner in Homelessness PGCert. This course is designed for professionals working in homelessness services or for those who are looking to enter this sector.
Your future career
This PGCert will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to make strategic and impactful change to homelessness service provision and to effectively engage service users. You’ll be taught by experts, including homelessness clinicians and researchers, with real experience in homelessness practice.
Successful completion of this course will enhance your skills and make you a more desirable candidate to progress within organisations that serve those experiencing homelessness. This can include frontline services, management roles, and strategic roles that influence the development and implementation of policy within the homelessness sector.

- Delve into the psychological theory underpinning behaviour change models and low-intensity psychological interventions
- Understand the role of lived experience and peer mentoring within homelessness and how to deliver this through peer programmes
- Explore the impact of government policy and approaches such as Psychologically Informed Environments (PIEs).

This course is for those who are currently working in the homelessness sector. You will be expected to utilise the knowledge and skills you learn in the course in your working role.
If you're a front line homelessness worker (including experts by experience) you'll be able to study this PGCert. You'll need to have a first or second class degree, or equivalent, from an approved University or institution of higher education. Information for international students
If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate your English meets our Band D: For IELTS, this is 6.5 overall, with minimum 6.0 in the speaking and listening components and 6.5 in the reading and writing components.
