Entry requirements

Applicants requires UK 2.1 or international equivalent in a relevant subject. You can find out more about our research groups as a whole on our research groups web page. We strongly recommend that you contact the potential supervisor prior to making your application. This will ensure that your proposal is within their area of interest and expertise. If you are a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you're applying to.

Course content

An MSc by research is taken in one year as a full-time student or in two years as a part-time student.

The degree is awarded following the successful completion of a period of research, including the submission of a thesis and its subsequent examination, together with a seminar.

The thesis is expected to display a particular knowledge of some part or aspect of the field of study, and to make a contribution to knowledge or understanding.

The MSc by Research degree involves three formally required pieces of work, which are assessed by the research student's supervisor and their assigned assessor.
