Entry requirements

Minimum entry criterion is the equivalent of an upper second class degree primarily in economics from a UK university. If you are a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you're applying to.

Course content

The Department and University have a prominent international reputation in public economics and in the use of economics in the design of social policy. This programme offers students a thorough foundation in the tools required to analyse aspects of public policy.

This programme is designed for:

  • those working in the public sector, public administration, government departments, the NHS, international agencies and elsewhere who wish to upgrade their existing skills;
  • those who want to build on their existing degrees in economics by obtaining further knowledge and expertise in more specialised areas;
  • those with a background in disciplines such as government, sociology, mathematics or natural sciences, but without a strong background in economics.
