2:2 or equivalent qualifications or experience in Social sciences with experience of social aspects of computing; Business and Management Studies; or Computer Science with experience of social aspects of computing.

Course content
Discover how social media design is directly influenced by social context. Social media and digital technologies don't exist in a vacuum. They must be understood within the specific social worlds they are embedded in. You'll not only understand how social media platforms work, but also how social context informs how they're designed, evaluated and experienced.
Gain an advanced comprehension of interactive design principles. This course provides an innovative mix of sociological and technical skills. You'll understand the social, political and economic factors that affect the use of interactive technologies. You'll also develop a deep understanding of social and participatory design principles. With this combined understanding, you'll put your learning into practice by designing interactive pages, devices and systems.
Study across two departments renowned for the quality of their research. You'll take modules from both the Department of Sociology and the Department of Computer Science. In doing so, you'll learn the inner workings of interactive technologies as well as their wider place in society. You'll work directly with academics researching new approaches and techniques for studying digital technologies.
Develop a practical skill set valued by employers across a range of industries. Social media is a new and emerging field. By studying how social media works and how it's used, you'll develop highly sought after skills in an in-demand area. You'll also develop highly transferable skills relevant to various career paths.
