Entry requirements

This course is ideal for those who have successfully passed their SQE1 Exams or for qualified lawyers who are seeking to complete their SQ2 assesments.

Howvever, you can study our SQE2 courses if you have started or passed the LPC as you can use qualifying work experience and SQE2 as an equivalent to a period of recognised training (training contract). 1. SQE2 Oral – The SQE2 oral assessments take place over two half days with a total of 4 oral assessments to be completed.
  2. SQE2 Written – The SQE2 written assessments will take place over three half days with a total of 12 written legal skills assessments.

Candidates will need to demonstrate that they can apply fundamental legal principles in the skills-based situations covered by the SQE2 SRA specification in a way that would address their client’s needs and concerns. In order to successfully pass SQE2 candidates must obtain the overall pass mark for SQE2. There is not a separate pass mark for SQE2 Oral and SQE2 Written, there is one pass mark for SQE2 as a whole.

You can read more about the SQE2 assessments here.

Qualifying work experience

If you are a student intending to qualify as a solicitor, you will need to complete the equivalent of at least two years full-time/equivalent qualifying work experience. This is a new requirement that has been introduced as part of the SQE course for any students intending to qualify as solicitors from 1 Sept 2021 onwards.

When a student undertakes QWE, a solicitor will need to sign off the candidates’ QWE – this means that they are signing off to say that the student has completed the work experience, it is not about them signing off to say students are competent to practise. The SQE assessment process will test your competency.

To read more on QWE visit our information portal here.
