Overview

From homes and hospitals to banks and airports, everything is connected – and vulnerable. With cyber threats on the rise, our MSc Cyber Security course equips you with the skills to defend the digital world against ever-evolving threats.

By collaborating with leading cyber security professionals and organisations in Manchester and beyond, we’ve designed a practical, industry-focused course that enhances both your expertise and employability.

You’ll explore the practice and principles of safeguarding systems, networks and data, learning to design, implement and manage secure computer-based systems.

A key part of the course is your independent masters project, where you’ll research and develop a solution to a real-world challenge – building your confidence, autonomy and self-sufficiency.

You'll be guided by a teaching team of active researchers, 86% of whose research outputs in computer science are rated world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021), ensuring you benefit from cutting-edge, real-world insights.

Ultimately, you’ll graduate prepared for a variety of high-impact roles, from ethical hacking to digital forensics – meeting the urgent need for cyber security experts in almost every sector.
