Entry requirements

A UK honours degree (minimum 2.2) or equivalent in a Chemistry-related subject, including forensic science, pharmacology or pharmacy. Applicants with relevant employment experience or qualifications will also be considered. International students need IELTS 6.5 (with minimum of 5.5 in reading, listening, speaking and writing).

Course content

You can choose from our extensive range of chemistry modules - allowing you to match the modules with your own interests and career aspirations.

MSc Chemistry covers a diverse range of topical chemical areas and disciplines. Students will expand their knowledge and interest and benefit from working on a lead research project within one of our internationally recognised research groups. Students can take the direct MSc Chemistry route or opt to carry out a one year paid work placement in industry.

MRes Chemistry is a flexible course that will provide you with the advanced knowledge, skills and attributes required for a career in Chemistry and its sub-disciplines, or act as a base for entry to PhD studies. Your extensive research project allows you to tailor your study further and gain an in-depth understanding of a particular area of interest.
