Entry requirements

A UK honours degree (minimum 2.1) in a biological subject. Applicants with relevant employment experience or other relevant qualifications will also be considered.

Course content

An MRes is an independent research based course, supervised by one of our experienced academics in the School of Science and Technology. The MRes Molecular Biology will help you gain extensive knowledge in a particular subject area as well as develop vital research skills, to prepare you for PhD level.

You will explore molecular biology of prokaryotes and eukaryotes and look at how genomes are mutated, analysed and manipulated in the detection, study and therapy of disease.

Information for international students

International students need IELTS 6.5 (with minimum of 5.5 in reading, listening, speaking and writing).
