Entry requirements

You should have a primary qualification in Dentistry - BDS or equivalent, plus two years full-time (or equivalent) post qualification clinical practice of dentistry, including evidence that you have specific relevant experience in Prosthodontic care.

Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential and non-native English speakers are required to have a minimum overall IELTS score of 7.0 with a writing score of 6.5.

Please note that in order for your application to be considered you must have obtained a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 at the point of submission of your application.

Course content

If you are a dental graduate who wants to pursue a career in prosthodontics, this programme is for you. The Professional Doctorate Programme in Prosthodontics provides integrated training for dentists who aspire to be specialists, either in primary or secondary services, or clinical academics of the future.

This DClinDent degree integrates academic activities with clinical practice and research. Covering all the topics in the GDC (UK) Specialist Curriculum, it aims to familiarise you with up-to-date, novel and evidence-based clinical practices in prosthodontics.

We incorporate vocational elements to the programme so that you get a comprehensive education. During the programme, you will get hands-on training in fixed and removable prosthodontics and implant dentistry. You will also conduct supervised clinics and laboratory practice, in which treatment planning and clinical procedures are performed for selected cases, including a number of complex treatments.

You will receive professional doctorate-level research training, completing reports, evaluations and your final dissertation.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to interact with external specialists, through an extensive seminar series held within the Institute of Dentistry and the Blizard Institute.
