Course content

Based in one of the UK’s strongest centres for the subject, the European Politics & Policy master’s studies the governance and policies of the European Union, and the impact on the domestic politics of member states, candidate countries and neighbours.

We build on a strong comparative perspective while developing your qualitative and quantitative skills.

Our mandatory courses combine analytical and conceptual rigour. You’ll also be able to tailor your studies to match your interests, with optional course units including, among others:

  • Comparing Capitalisms in the Global Political Economy
  • Democracy: Theory & Practice
  • Gender in Comparative Politics
  • Critical Globalisation Studies

Throughout the programme you’ll develop skills in critical inquiry, research design, creative thinking and problem-solving. At the point of completion, you’ll be well placed to pursue a career in research, policy, charity and a great number of similar fields.
